Lewis signs First Team forms

Friday 25/11/2011

After some very impressive recent performances for our Youth Team, sponsored by Ansons Solicitors, Lewis Suckling has become the next from Keith Holmes’s excellent squad to be signed up by Rob Smith and Larry Chambers on first team forms. Lewis, who is 18 in a few days has been in terrific form, scoring a hat-trick in the midweek 4-2 win at Shifnal Town FC that has put the youths into the Semi-Final of the Staffordshire FA Floodlit Youth Cup. His form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere and he is in the final stages of selection for the ESFA England Schools team as well as gaining interest from Football League clubs.

After impressing in training with the first team last night Rob and Larry have added Lewis to the squad to travel to Stocksbridge Park Steels FC at the weekend.

Other team news for the trip to Stocksbridge is mixed, with Jamey Osborne and Ben Jevons unavailable through injury. On the positive side, talismanic striker Marvin Robinson has made a quicker than expected recovery from the thigh strain sustained at Matlock Town FC a couple of weeks ago. The big striker has also given the club another vote of confidence by rejecting a move to Matlock Town FC after they had made an approach for him subsequent to the FA Trophy encounters.
With the impending suspensions for Nick Wellecomme and Pedro Monteiro and the current injury list, Rob and Larry are in negotiations for a loan player and we may have more news later in the day.
