£500 raised for Chemotherapy Unit

Tuesday 20/03/2012

Hednesford Town Football Club and the HTFC Supporters Association would like to thank the generous donations from fans and members who helped to raise £500 for the Stafford Hospital Chemotherapy Unit at Saturday’s game versus FC United of Manchester.

There was a bucket collection during the match which raised £350 and the inaugural SA quiz took place in Strikers Bar on the evening with the three winners of the prizes donating the money to the worthy cause.

Ian Pitt, the organiser of the collection who’s wife, Sue, is currently receiving treatment at the Unit was delighted with the response and also thanked Keith Harley for his sterling efforts in organising the quiz.

‘There’s some amazing work being done at the Unit in Stafford and Sue has received some very good treatment there. It was fantastic to see the fans of FC United and Hednesford being so generous and Keith Harley’s efforts in organising the Quiz on the evening meant the three winning teams were able to make such an honourable gesture. The volunteers who helped bucket collecting during the game deserve thanks as well.’

A total of 12 teams, consisting of 51 participants attended the event organised, compiled and hosted by SA member Keith Harley. A most enjoyable evening was had by all. The eventual winners (£50) were “The Greyhounds” (captained by Gareth Davies), Runners Up “The Halfway Liners” (£30) (captained by Diane Hope) and 3rd “Any Suggestions” (£20) (captained by Terry McMahon).

The quiz night not only put the icing on the cake for the charity collection but also raised £75 for the Supporters Association as the organisation continues its work to improve the atmosphere, surroundings and community work done by the Football Club.
