Under 21 players impress in training

Friday 17/08/2012

On the recommendation of Mike Smyth, a number of his U21 team were invited in for first team training with the squad this week and, after impressing the first team management, were registered as first team players bringing Rob and Chris’s squad to a healthy 21 players.
Midfielder, 19 year old Benjamin Watkis, finished last season at Matlock Town FC after being released by Chesterfield but looks a very competent midfield player.
6ft 3″ striker Isaac Minott also proved to be a real handful and should also push our four experienced strikers for a starting place.
Omar Recci formerly of Shrewsbury Town and Luke Shearer ex-Tamworth were also keen to show what they can do.

Rob Smith is currently running the rule over another couple of excellent Under 21’s and we can expect further signings over the next couple of days.

Anyone wishing to come along to see the Under 21 team will be able to see them play two Saturday morning Cup matches in the next few weeks at Keys Park.

On Saturday 8th September they play Austrey Rangers FC and on Saturday 15th September they play Sporting Khalsa FC, both games kick off at 10.30am
