Match Preview: Kendal Town (A)

Tuesday 26/03/2013

Following the continued fixture havoc caused by the unseasonable snow storms over the weekend, Hednesford Town travel north to Kendal Town on Tuesday night in a hastily rearranged meeting as, to avoid further postponements, the venue was switched from Keys Park to Parkside Crescent over the weekend.

The League’s decision to extend the season by a week still leaves The Pitmen facing a gruelling run of 13 games including two cup finals in five weeks as they look to chase down current league leaders North Ferriby United, but manager Rob Smith is confident that his squad can cope.

‘It is a testing time for everyone but we will be fine. The lads will handle whatever is put in front of them. We are going to have to be very careful and utilise the squad to its maximum to try and keep players fresh.

Kendal will be a tough proposition, they have signed some new players recently but we will be looking for three important points.’

Team wise, Hednesford captain Darren Campion is suspended, with Alex Melbourne out for over a month with a badly gashed ankle.

Despite their new arrivals, to say The Pitmen’s opponents tomorrow evening are struggling for form is an understatement, with the Lake District outfit having lost six straight league matches.

The Pitmen desperately need a victory and playing Kendal, on paper at least, provides a great opportunity to make up ground on North Ferriby ahead of further possible fixture disruption across the Easter Weekend.
