Smith In Confident Mood As Signings Continue

Tuesday 11/06/2013

Hednesford Town boss Rob Smith is delighted to continue a confident last couple of weeks for The Pitmen, as 20-goal-striker Neil Harvey and cultured midfielder Kris Taylor both signed up for next season’s Conference North campaign.

The securing of the Play Off Final goal scoring hero Harvey, subject of interest from an Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division club last week, particularly pleased Smith and he also stated with some conviction that both star performers Elliott Durrell and Jamey Osborne will also be playing their football at Keys Park come August.

‘We have no intention of selling our better players and I’m delighted Neil has committed to us. Jamey is under contract so there is no issue there, he will be playing for Hednesford next season. I have also had constant dialogue with Elliott and his father. He is currently on holiday but has expressed his desire to stay, so I am more than confident that he will sign a new deal upon his return.’

On the signing of Taylor, a roaring success following a mid-season loan from Telford last season, the manager was delighted to capture a player who will undoubtedly make another big impression as The Pitmen look to consolidate at Conference North level.

‘Signing Kris was very high on my priority list. He is a player in my opinion still playing well below his level, a player I have always admired and more importantly a player who was desperate to sign. If we can get Kris to his maximum fitness we undoubtedly have one of the best midfielders in non-league football.’

More signings are expected before pre-season training starts for the Keys Park outfit in early July, with another striker a priority for Smith as his squad begins to take shape in preparation for an exciting season ahead.
