SA Looks to Build on Positives in Third Year

Tuesday 16/07/2013

Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association Joint Chairman Scott Smith painted a very positive picture of the work carried out by the fans’ organisation at last Thursday’s Annual General Meeting and vowed to continue building on the successes of the past two years.

The Association, formed by a group of Hednesford followers in December 2010, keen to ensure any fan with an allegiance to the Keys Park outfit had a vehicle with which to help in any way they could, has now raised thousands of pounds in funding for the Club and Smith made special mention of the numerous committed volunteers who have put their time and effort into growing the organisation.

‘Since the inception of the SA almost three years ago, many fans have done their bit, whether it be the Pitmen Prize Draw, fixture distribution, Facebook, Twitter, recording match highlights or just generally volunteering to help on match days. All those people have played a major part in where the SA stands today.

This season is a big year with the team performing so well on the pitch to get promoted in May and I’m positive that the SA can continue to assist the players, management, Club officials and, most importantly, the fans in getting the most from Hednesford Town in an exciting season at Conference North level.’

Three new committee members were voted in at the meeting, with further plans regarding 2013/14 fundraising ideas discussed as well as a bumper Pitmen Prize Draw with over £350 cash given away.

The PPD itself has now raised over £2000 towards Club and SA funds, run for 20 consecutive months and given away another £2000 in prizes.

Any supporters keen to join the SA and volunteer as much or as little time as they can manage in growing Hednesford Town both on and off the pitch can contact Membership Secretary, Mick Johnson or Scott Smith on 07518 144801 or upthetown629@hotmail.com for a membership form.

Anyone interested in joining the Pitmen Prize Draw should contact Keith Harley on 07891 043912 or email him on keith.johnharley@gmail.com
