Raft of Awards on Presentation Night

Supporters, players and officials of Hednesford Town rounded the season off in style as over 100 people packed the Chase Suite at Keys Park for The Pitmen’s end of season presentation evening on Friday night.

With entry free for all supporters, the night was a great success as Tom Thorley scooped two ‘Player of the Year’ awards from the Supporters Association and Independent Travel Club, with John Disney being awarded ‘Manager’s Player’ by Rob Smith in recognition of his superb consistency shown all season.

Jamey Osborne was voted as Supporters ‘Player of the Season’ by fans at Keys Park on match day performances and also ‘Player’s Player of the Season’ as the skilful midfielder, cruelly ruled out with a shoulder injury for the play-offs, deservedly received recognition.

There was a choice of 16 goals playing on the big screen for ‘Goal of the Season’ and Danny Glover’s outrageous left footed volley against Altrincham in the play-off semi final first leg pipped Elliott Durrell’s famous individual effort against Bradford Park Avenue to the award, much to the amazement of manager Rob Smith!

The Youth Team, so well run by Keith Holmes also received deserved recognition for another highly successful season and Sam Mills came away with two awards, the ‘Player’s Player’ with Harry Radford being given ‘Manager’s Player’.

Derek Hore received the coveted SA ‘Supporter of the Season’ award for his sterling work from over 200 miles away, in proof reading a range of articles for the programme and official website as well as posting match updates on the Supporters Association message board.

Finally, after the sad passing of Sue Pitt, Francino Francis received the ‘Sportsman of the Season’ award in memory of Ian Pitt’s wife who was a huge fan of Hednesford Town and is well revered by all at the club.
