Hednesford Town return to their Keys Park home for the first time in almost a month after three away trips which, until Saturday’s fantastic victory against play-off chasing Boston United, had yielded hundreds of miles clocked up but no wins.

That victory against a well fancied Boston outfit is a superb base from which to build and Pitmen manager Rob Smith is keen to see a repeat performance from his side tomorrow night as Hednesford look forward to playing at a stadium marking its 20th season since being built.

‘We can’t wait to play at Keys Park, it’s been a lot of travelling recently and these three games in quick succession are a good chance to build on Saturday’s win and gain some momentum.

‘We needed the win on Saturday but more importantly we needed a strong performance. Getting players back fit was always the key and we looked a very strong team against Boston. Chris Westwood and Paul Sullivan were big players and Steve Diggin just being in the squad was a massive boost.’

The visitors to Staffordshire on Tuesday night lost by two goals in eight against high scoring Oxford City at the weekend, getting back to 3-3 before losing 5-3 and have a home FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tie against Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North minnows Warrington Town looming large on Saturday.

Just three places and two points separate the Pitmen in 11th and the Seagulls in 14th so the game is in no way an easy fixture for Hednesford as they look to begin the tough process of stringing one of Rob Smith’s famed winning runs together.
