Match Preview: Corby Town (H)

Tuesday 18/08/2015

It is a quick return to action for the Pitmen as they play host to Corby Town at Keys Park this evening.

Rob Smith’s side will be aiming to put the stoppage-time defeat at Harrogate Town last Saturday behind them as they face a side that have made an unbeaten start to the campaign following their promotion from the Southern League Premier Division last time around.

Corby make their first visit to Keys Park since what turned out to be a memorable FA Cup tie in October 2011 for the wrong reasons for Hednesford. That afternoon saw the Pitmen 2-0 up at the break before conceding four second half goals and also having two men sent off.

At that point our visitors tonight were playing at this level themselves, before suffering relegation at the end of the following season.

Manager Rob Smith is expecting another test for his side tonight: “They have made a fantastic start on their return to this level of football, and come here unbeaten to date, so we know we are in for a really tough game.”

The game kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm and we look forward to welcoming both Hednesford and Corby fans to Keys Park.

The Pitmen are once again set to be without John Disney and Adam Thomas who are still out with long-term injuries while Marvin Robinson should be fully fit after suffering a knock in the build-up to last weekend’s trip to Harrogate.
