Match Preview: Gloucester City (H)

Monday 14/09/2015

Bernard McNally’s home reign as returning Hednesford Town manager sees Gloucester City visiting Keys Park on Tuesday evening as the Pitmen look to return to winning ways in the league following disappointment at the weekend.

The game against Alfreton Town last weekend is one that will want to be wiped from the memory banks very quickly and the players have a chance to do this straight away when the Tigers come to town.

Home games against Gloucester have traditionally been high-scoring ones over the years with two 4-1 victories and last season’s 3-1 triumph seeing the Pitmen hold the upper hand when it comes to games against City at Keys Park.

In the build-up to the game McNally said: “Saturday’s game was obviously a bitter disappointment after coming back to a club that means a lot to me. It was not the start I was looking for and I knew that it would be a tough call against a willing and strong side.

“Against Gloucester we need to bounce back with a solid performance like the team did a couple of weeks ago against Worcester City and Boston United.”

The manager is set to be without the services of midfielder Tom Thorley who was forced off with a nasty wrist injury towards the end of Saturday’s game but apart from long-term injury victim Adam Thomas he will have a full squad to pick from for the game that kicks off at 7.45pm.
