Match Preview: Brackley Town (H)

Friday 26/02/2016

The Pitmen play at home for the fourth and final time in February as they welcome Brackley Town to Keys Park, another side that are battling to avoid relegation this season.

The Northamptonshire side sit just one place above us in the Vanarama National League North and come here with no less than four former Hednesford Town players in their line-up.

Sam Hornsby, Richard Batchelor, Glenn Walker and Steve Diggin will be part of Brackley’s squad tomorrow afternoon with the striker already having scored once against the Pitmen earlier in the season.

That game actually saw our current manager Frank Sinclair in charge of the Saints, with him being handed the job of caretaker after the departure of Jon Brady during the 1-1 draw with a goal from Kyle Perry earning a point for ourselves.

Sinclair was looking forward to coming up against a side that he helped to safety last season when he was still lacing up his boots on the playing front.

He said:

“I have been really looking forward to this game as I made some terrific friends with directors, players and fans while I was at Brackley and it will be good to see some of the old faces again.

“During my time at the club we showed a lot of character and in the end that helped keep them up last season. For me now it is all about concentrating on Hednesford Town.

“All I want us to do is to continue to play football and we have to start that this weekend as we look to get back to winning ways.”

Andy Todd is continuing his recovery from injury, while the fitness of Tom Thorley will also be assessed before the game after the midfielder missed the journey to Lowestoft Town on Tuesday.

As usual, the match kicks off at 3pm.
