Hednesford Town Football Club to begin Scholarship Scheme

Wednesday 23/03/2016

Hednesford Town Football Club are delighted to announce that from the summer of 2016 it shall be re-investing in its Youth Team programme with the start of a Scholarship Scheme.

After a short break from running a Youth Team this will prove to be an exciting time for the Keys Park based club as it teams up with BMET College in Sutton Coldfield to provide both learning and football opportunities.

The Pitmen are now on the lookout for scholars to begin the 2016/17 season with the club looking for talented players aged 16-18 to join its new Football Academy.

Each scholar will be expected to combine a full time study programme in sport with tailored football training and match day programmes.

The football club has teamed up with BMETC Sutton Coldfield to ensure each scholar’s academic and football opportunities are nurtured through the season.

Successful scholars will be those who show dedication to the programme both on the pitch and in the classroom.

Hednesford Town Youth Team will be playing in the recently rebranded National League Under 19 Midland Alliance Division as well as the FA Youth Cup, Birmingham and Staffordshire County Cups.

First Team Manager Frank Sinclair, said: “This is an exciting new era for the football club. Being a part of the organisation in partnership with a College Programme and a proven coaching staff with our club philosophy in place, gives us the optimism that we can unearth our own young talent, for the future of Hednesford Town FC.

“I am a firm believer that for any ambitious young footballers who are prepared  to dedicate themselves to a College Programme and an intense football programme to improve themselves technically, physically and mentally then there will be the pathway to succeed at our club. Good luck with your application.”

The first trial date will be held at Keys Park on Wednesday 30th March 2016 from 1pm with the session set to last until 4pm.

An information evening for parents and scholars will take place at the club on Wednesday 6th April between 7pm and 9pm.

Anyone aged between 16 and 18 can apply by completing the form attached below and contacting either Jason Allen on jason.allen@bmetc.ac.uk or Club Secretary Terry McMahon via office@hednesfordtownfc.com, who are both available to be contacted for further details.
