Match Preview: Wolves U21 (H)

Friday 15/07/2016

The Pitmen return home this coming Saturday when a Wolverhampton Wanderers U21 side visits Keys Park.

After starting pre-season on an unbeaten front by beating Chasetown and then drawing with Heath Hayes, manager Liam McDonald will be looking for his side to try and pick up another victory at the weekend.

They will be facing a side that have won their first two friendlies; 5-0 against AFC Wulfrunians and 8-1 at Heather St Johns.

The Wolves side will be made up of players who currently sit on the fringes of the first team at Molineux and there could well be a future star among the squad on Saturday. This is something McDonald is all too well aware of.

He said:

“It is going to be a big test for us against Wolves on Saturday. This game will ideally test our fitness and defensive qualities even further as they will have a lot of young and fit lads in their line-up.

“It is another step up from the two games that we have played in the last week. It will be tough going, we know that, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Michael Williams is set to miss the game, which kicks off at 3pm, through injury while striker Danny Glover is also carrying a slight knock that is set to keep him out of the fixture, although he has returned to training.
