Tuesday 23/08/2016

Hednesford Town Football Club and Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association are proud to be supporting ‘I Am Team GB’ in conjunction with Cannock Chase MP, Amanda Milling.

Saturday 27th August 2016 will see Keys Park, the home of Hednesford Town Football Club, hosting an Old Fashioned Sports Day in conjunction with the national ‘I Am Team GB’ event.

Four teams will be battling it out at half time with a box-to-box relay with space hoppers, a bean bag toss and the three legged race. Prizes for the event will be awarded in the bar at the end of the game.

We are also proud to be supporting the Midlands Air Ambulance who will be raising money on the day and we will also have the current Miss Staffordshire supporting the event.  Other events at the ground will be announced in the next few days

General Manager Carl Cooper said:

“I am excited to be supporting ‘I Am Team GB’ and the chance to be part of the nation’s biggest sports day.

“With us hosting Whitby Town at the ground it will be an exciting day with the Pitmen hoping to secure three points, and having  the local MP and local charities getting involved as well it puts Hednesford Town Football Club in the heart of the local community.

“Seeing the GB team secure so many medals has also given us a good reason to celebrate their achievements.”

Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase added:

“I Am Team GB is a golden opportunity for every sports club and activity group to welcome new members and supporters.

“Hednesford Football Club are throwing their backing behind the scheme and have organised some fun activities, it’s a great chance for local residents to get behind our great local football team.

“I would encourage other sports clubs to follow their lead and be part of the I am Team GB day.”

The Hednesford Football Club event will take place during the Hednesford Town v Whitby game on 27th August 2016, turnstiles open at 13:00.  Keys Park Stadium, Keys Park Road, Hednesford, WS12 2DZ

The day will see thousands of sports clubs across the UK open their doors and in an unprecedented move, ITV, STV and UTV will switch off their channels for an hour to inspire the nation to take part in a wide range of sports, free of charge.
