Two More Arrive at Keys Park

Friday 12/08/2016

Hednesford Town are pleased to announce the arrival of two more players at Keys Park ahead of the start of the new season on Saturday.

We can now confirm that we have signed striker Jamie Matthews and will register him hopefully in-time for the weekend subject to international clearance being received from the Latvian FA.
The 23-year-old striker was a member of FC United of Manchester’s youth team and played for Hyde before linking up with Colwyn Bay for two seasons.
He also featured on the Sky1 competition “Football’s Next Star” in which contestants had a chance to win a contract with top Italian club Inter Milan. Originally being top ranked entrant from the Manchester area he reached the final 20 out of 7,000 original entries before being forced to withdraw with a knee injury.
His success in that TV competition earned him an invitation to have a three month trial with Chicago Fire in America.
Matthews then returned to the UK to have spells with Trafford, Stevenage and Northwich Victoria and most recently signed for a club in Latvia before arriving at the Pitmen.

Also arriving at the club is 21-year-old left winger Joel Logan who has spent the last four years with League One side Rochdale.
After making his debut in 2012, aged 17, he has gone on to make 15 further appearances for the Football League side.
Over the course of the last two seasons the winger has spent loan spells at both Southport and Wrexham.

The Pitmen kick-off their campaign on Saturday when Spennymoor Town visit Keys Park, 3pm kick-off.
