Match Preview: Mickleover Sports (H)

Monday 26/09/2016

It is a quick return to action for the Pitmen this evening (Monday) as they prepare to host Mickleover Sports at Keys Park.

Liam McDonald’s side are looking to keep their unbeaten home league record intact against a Mickleover side that the Pitmen have only ever faced on two separate occasions. The one previous fixture against Mickleover at Keys Park came nearly five years ago when six separate scorers for the Pitmen resulted in a thumping 6-1 victory in December 2011.

The manager was hoping for his side to bounce back with a victory, following the draw against Nantwich Town, as they prepare to host the Derbyshire side at Keys Park.

He said:

“This evening gives us an opportunity to bounce back from Saturday with a good performance on our own pitch. I have had our opposition watched a couple of times and we will have done our homework.

“They are a good side and have players among their ranks that can certainly hurt us, while they come here on the back of a good result on Saturday. It is however, all about concentrating on ourselves and making sure that our performance is a lot better than of late.

“We have an opportunity to get maximum points this evening, especially if we play like we did in the second half on Saturday, against Ashton and for the majority of the Ilkeston game.”

The only injury concern is James Mutton who suffered a back injury during the game against Nantwich Town which forced him off in the second half.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm with Strikers Bar being open before and after the fixture.
