Squad Update

Wednesday 14/09/2016

The Pitmen can now confirm that defender Rhys Thompson has departed from Keys Park after losing his first team spot.

The former Chasetown man joined the club towards the end of pre-season and made four appearances in total.

Manager Liam McDonald said:

“We have decided to let Rhys Thompson go from the club. Lewis Wright has come back into the side after injury and it is important for Rhys to be playing first team football. I would like to wish him all the best for the future.”

Meanwhile another defender on the move, albeit only temporarily at the moment, is Francino Francis.

After starting the first game of the season before coming off injured, the big defender has been allowed to join Brocton in order to get in some ‘game time’ after being unable to force his way back into the team.

The club can also confirm that they have received two seven day approaches for Francis, who has played over 100 games for the Pitmen.
