Match Preview: Blyth Spartans (H)

Friday 14/10/2016

Hednesford Town return home on Saturday for the second fixture in a week as they host Blyth Spartans at Keys Park.

The Pitmen will go into the game buoyed by the 3-0 victory over Corby Town on Monday evening as they look to consolidate their third place position in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Blyth have only ever played at Keys Park once before, back in April 2014 when they were defeated 3-0 as we worked our way towards the season’s play-offs.

Manager Liam McDonald was hoping that his side could build on their impressive victory on Monday evening as they look to take on a side that narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

He said:

“Hopefully we can take our confidence into the game with us. It is set to be another tough game against Blyth, who are another side near the top and have been in somewhat of a transition period following the change of management.

“They will be coming here fancying their chances of getting a result – but so do we, especially on our own pitch where we have only lost once in the league.

“We’ve got some really big games coming up and I want to make sure that we are ready to go in order to put in some good performances.

“We have to make sure that we match Blyth today as we look to take some momentum into Tuesday’s game against Barwell.”

McDonald is set to have a full squad of players to choose from for the fixture which kicks off at the usual time of 3pm with Strikers Bar being open before and after the match.
