Match Preview: Grantham Town (A)

Friday 16/12/2016

Hednesford Town make the journey across to Lincolnshire on Saturday as they look to build on their last two league results which has seen them take all six points.

Fixtures against Grantham Town at the South Kesteven Stadium have usually been tight affairs – with our last visit seeing us triumph 3-2 in October 2012, while earlier this season we recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over them at Keys Park.

Manager Paul Casey was hoping that his side could start the game on the front foot, something they have done in their last two league games.

He said:

“At Workington we were two nil up after seven minutes and against Warrington we were more dogged because both sides were good ones.

“The second half performance on Tuesday against Leek shows how far we have come in a short space of time.

“I rested a few of the boys in midweek so they will be fresh for Saturday and I’m excited that we can go to a really good Grantham team being fully prepared. It is going to be a tough game for us; there isn’t an easy game in this league. With every one you have got to turn up and play from the beginning until the final whistle.”

The manager will be without defender Lewis Wright who is still struggling with a knee injury, while Tom Thorley has now recovered from an arm injury that he felt at the end of last weekend’s victory over Warrington.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we hope that you can make the trip to support the Pitmen – with there still being spaces available on the Travel Club, phone Ken Leese (07935723290) to book a seat for £13.
