Match Preview: Barwell (H)

Friday 03/02/2017

The Pitmen return home this weekend as they host Barwell at Keys Park for the very first time.

Our Leicestershire based visitors currently sit one place and one point above us in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, albeit having played three games more.

We go into the game looking to avenge the defeat which was handed out to us at Barwell back in October, when on a forgettable evening two late goals accounted for us.

Manager Paul Casey was hoping that his side could bounce back after the disappointment of last weekend.

He said:

“We know that it is going to be a tough game for us against a strong side and one of the form teams in the league with them having made steady progress over the last few months.

“I have made sure that we have watched them and know what they are about as we look to use home advantage with us having a tricky couple of games against Blyth Spartans over the course of the next ten days.

“The spirit in the camp is still a really good one and one thing is for sure, I know that they will have a good go as we look to go out there onto the pitch and pick up all three points.”

The manager is set to be without Lewis Wright (knee) and Callum Roberts (ankle) while Tony Clarke (hip) and David McDermott (knee) will face late fitness tests to see if they will be involved. Tom Thorley suffered a fractured finger in a recent game but will be fit to play.

The game kicks off at 3pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
