Match Preview: Workington AFC (H)

Friday 10/03/2017

After suffering the disappointment of a midweek postponement, The Pitmen return to action on Saturday as we prepare to host Workington AFC at Keys Park.

With both sides still having ambitions of making the top five it will no doubt be another close affair as we go in search of a league double, having defeated the Cumbrian side back at the start of December.

Workington currently sit five points and four places ahead of the Pitmen in the league table but just two points off the top five.

Their last visit to Keys Park came almost four years to the day when a late burst of goals, including two from Marvin Robinson, saw us record a 4-0 victory as we continued to push for promotion from the Conference North.

The caretaker management team will be able to call on the services of midfielder Jordan Fitzpatrick again after he took part in two training sessions this week after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury. Vinny Mukendi will also be available for selection after being forced off with a facial injury last weekend which required stitches to be applied to the wound.

We are hopeful of announcing some new additions to the squad later today in order to help with the final run-in.

The game on Saturday kicks off at 3pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
