Midfielder ‘Sweeps Up’ at End of Season Awards

Wednesday 19/04/2017

It turned out to be a memorable post-match occasion for Tom Thorley on Monday afternoon after the midfielder took home five end of season playing awards.

Captain Thorley, who is the second top scorer for the Pitmen this season with eight goals in the 50 games that he has played in, was named as the “Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association Player of the Season”, “Managers Player of the Season”, “Sportsman of the Year”, “Players’ Player of the Season” and also “Supporters Player of the Season”.

The midfielder fought off competition from goalkeeper Dan Crane and striker Danny Glover who were both named as joint runners-up in the ‘Supporters Player of the Season’ vote.

Off the field, supporters were asked to pause for thought as Michael Johnson was posthumously awarded the “Clubman of the Year” award  for his efforts over the last three decades at the football club before his sad passing in February.

Kevin Fearn was named as the “HTFCSA Supporter of the Season” for his hard work off the field in keeping Keys Park up to scratch with a rigorous maintenance programme and continual help which he provides to the football club and HTFCSA.
