Boldmere St Michaels 3-2 Hednesford Town

Saturday 01/07/2017

The Pitmen were edged out in their first pre-season game under the guidance of manager Neil Tooth following an entertaining affair on Friday evening.

With some players still away on holiday Tooth was unable to call on all of the squad which he has assembled since his appointment in May but he was able to give a number of players minutes.

Hednesford would fall behind in the 28th minute when Jack Skinner opened the scoring for the home side.

The deficit would be in place for just four minutes though before Danny Glover rose to head home a Lewis Wright cross.

HT: 1-1

Nine minutes into the second period the Pitmen would find themselves behind again as former player Mark Danks found the back of the net. The striker would soon be in the action again as in the 64th minute he was able to make it 3-1 to further extend his side’s lead.

Hednesford reduced the arrears in the 72nd minute when Luke Rodgers took his time before firing into the net after being picked out by Jordan Nadat.

Despite some late pressure Tooth’s side couldn’t find an equaliser and now have a week to prepare for their next fixture against Heath Hayes.

Attendance: 257
