Pitmen To Swap Football For Cricket Ball

Thursday 20/07/2017

Hednesford Town’s first team squad are set to swap footballs for cricket balls (and bats) as they prepare to take on a local club at their own game.

Thursday 3 August will see the Pitmen, led by manager Neil Tooth, taking on Rugeley Cricket Club in a T20 cricket match.

Tooth said:

“I’m very much looking forward to this as it gives the lads a chance to enjoy themselves and build team spirit whilst also continuing to build links with Hednesford Town supporters and the local community.

“I’m not expecting it to be a contest, but we have a few closet cricketers in the squad so you never know!”

Starting at 6pm at the home of Rugeley CC – Chaseley Road, WS15 2LQ – the evening will be free for all to all attend, with the bar also being open.

Chris Saunders from Rugeley, added: “All of us at Rugeley Cricket Club are delighted to be able to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Hednesford Town Football Club for what promises to be an evening of great entertainment and fun.

“We look forward to welcoming Neil and his team as the club builds towards the start of the new football season.”

The Pitmen begin their new league campaign on Saturday 12 August with a home game against Ashton United.
