Altrincham (H)

Tuesday 26/09/2017

Hednesford Town return home this evening as we look to keep our unbeaten home record intact when Altrincham visit Keys Park.

Although they made a somewhat slow start to the campaign, Altrincham have started to gain some momentum in recent weeks as they look to make an immediate return to step two following their relegation last season.

It is some three and a half years since we last faced ‘Alty’ in a competitive fixture when two pulsating play-off fixtures saw them narrowly squeeze us out over two legs at the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

Manager Rob Smith was expecting a response from his team as they look to get back on-track following Saturday’s disappointing result at Mickleover Sports

He said:

“Our away performances and results are extremely worrying, and I truly believe this is a mental issue. We have to be more resilient, I know we have some good technical players, but that is only a small percentage of what makes a good non-league player.

“Mental toughness aligned with a steely inner determination is what good players possess, and that is what has been sadly lacking in our games away from Keys Park. I am a big believer that if you are to achieve anything in the game, it is results away from home that dictate, and quite simply ours have to improve immediately.

“We could not have asked for a more difficult game tonight, I believe Altrincham have the best squad in the division, and a very good manager in Phil Parkinson, however I know if we perform we can match the best, so I am looking for a reaction from the players after Saturdays defeat.”

The match kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm and we hope you can join us for the fixture.
