Match Preview: Mickleover Sports (H)

Friday 27/10/2017

Hednesford Town take a break from league action as our attentions turn towards the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday when Mickleover Sports arrive at Keys Park.

After gaining victory over National League North side Tamworth to progress in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday evening the Pitmen come into the game full of confidence – having lost just once at home this season.

We know though that Mickleover are a very capable opposition, something which we saw at the tail-end of September when we made the trip up the A38 and suffered a 5-0 defeat on what was a very forgettable afternoon.

Pitmen manager Rob Smith was looking for his side to continue their good run of late and gain some revenge for that disappointing result against Sports just over a month ago.

He said:

“If ever we needed reminding just how hard today will be we only have to remember our game at Mickleover just a few weeks ago, where we lost by five goals, and to be honest on the day we were lucky not to have lost by a bigger margin.

“They were very good on that day, but from our point of view we were simply awful, and I am sure the players are keen to show we have improved since then and right a few wrongs.”

The manager will be without the services of Reece King though, with him not being allowed to play by his parent club Gloucester City, while Darren Campion and Sam Oji will both face late fitness tests to see if they will be involved.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
