Match Preview: Rushall Olympic (H)

Tuesday 17/10/2017

The Pitmen return home this evening as our attention turns towards the Integro League Cup when Rushall Olympic visit Keys Park.

This first round tie will see us hoping to perform better than we did last season – when we lost out to Leek Town in the first stage of the competition.

Rushall arrive at Keys Park having this week appointed former Hednesford manager Liam McDonald, although this evening will still see John Allen taking the reigns, while there are also one or two former Pitmen players amongst their ranks.

The tie must be decided on the night and if the scores are level after 90 minutes then instead of extra-time, a penalty shoot-out will decide who advances into the next round. The 2017-18 winners and runners-up will once again collect £2,000 and £1,000 in prize money respectively. Losing quarter-finalists will collect £250, while the losing semi-finalists will bank £500 each as sponsors Integro continue their long-running support for the Evo-Stik League’s showpiece cup competition.

Manager Rob Smith has somewhat of a depleted squad to choose from this evening with Darren Campion, Alex Melbourne, Jim Mutton, Sam Oji, Edji Mbunga and Jed Davies all out due to injury, while other members of the squad are also being assessed for knocks picked up on Saturday.

The game kicks off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
