Match Preview: Workington (H)

Friday 13/10/2017

Hednesford Town return home on Saturday when Workington arrive at Keys Park and the Pitmen look to get back to winning ways.

We go into the game looking to continue our relatively good run at home which has seen us lose just once on our own turf this season.

Furthermore, this fixture will also see us complete our two games against Workington this season after we made the long trip to the North West just a few short weeks ago – suffering a 1-0 loss in the process.

Pitmen manager Rob Smith was hoping for a response from his team following the disappointing result on Tuesday evening.

He said:

“It has been another mixed week for us, with an excellent result against Witton Albion in what I thought was a decent game. It was tough with the windy conditions but we came on strong in the second half and a little bit of quality play saw us take the points.

“Having won three on the bounce confidence was high in the camp, and I was really looking forward to the Halesowen game, but unfortunately our Achilles heel of playing away kicked in again, and an awful first half ultimately left us with too much to do.

“Tomorrow we welcome Workington who we know well having lost narrowly at their place just a few weeks ago. They are a good side challenging for the play-off positions, so we are in for another tough game.”

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
