Match Preview: Rushall Olympic (A)

Tuesday 26/12/2017

The Pitmen make a quick return to league action today when we prepare to make the short journey to Rushall Olympic for what will no doubt be another tight Boxing Day encounter.

After suffering defeat on Saturday against Shaw Lane the Pitmen go into the game looking to get back on a winning run which had seen them move into the top half of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League table.

Our record at Dales Lane in recent years is somewhat mixed though, with us having failed to win any of our last seven visits –  our last victory coming some 23 years ago. Certainly something we shall be looking to put right later today.

The fixture also has the added spice with the Pics now being managed by former Pitmen manager Liam McDonald – who departed Keys Park in November 2016 for Solihull Moors before linking up with Rushall last month.

Manager Rob Smith will still be without defender Ben Bailey, who is recovering from a fracture to his foot, while Darren Campion will face a fitness test to see if he can be involved after missing the home game against Shaw Lane on Saturday. Louis Harris and Danny Glover will both be available for selection with their suspensions not due to start until our trip to Lancaster City later this week.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank all Pitmen supporters who are planning on making the short journey across to Rushall for tomorrow’s game.
