Hednesford Town Announce New Youth Football Partnership

Thursday 11/01/2018

Hednesford Town Football Club is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with FC Newlands to form one of the most comprehensive youth football providers in South Staffordshire.

The merging of the dynamic and well organised FC Newlands with Hednesford Town YDS FC, the official junior mixed teams of Hednesford Town FC, will create a very significant Community Football Club providing organised football development and participation of all ages. The new club will be called Hednesford Town Newlands FC and will complement the growing and successful Hednesford Town Girls FC, also based at the club.

Hednesford Town Newlands FC is a Charter Standard accredited club with its own management committee and complete financial independence and by the commencement of the 2018/19 season will number around 30 teams competing in both Saturday and Sunday Leagues.

Current Chairman of FC Newlands, Stuart Harris said:

“We are on the verge of building something really special with this link-up.

“With a thriving youth football club we can offer a realistic player pathway into semi-professional football for talented youngsters around the area.

“This project also offers us the chance to unite the community and create a sense of pride.”

The merger will not affect any of The Pitmen’s current Academy arrangements, with the new club set to work in corporation with those already in existence.

Hednesford Town Newlands FC will be using Keys Park as their base of operations and the close relationship between this dynamic new club and The Pitmen will bring significant benefit to both clubs.

Hednesford Town FC’s Club Secretary, Terry McMahon, commented

“This is a very significant event for football participation in the Cannock Chase area. The opportunity to work with a very well structured and managed boys football club in our locality was too good to miss, it will bring so many benefits to both parties.”

“I have been very impressed with Stuart Harris and his team and look forward to working with them and supporting them in this important project.”

There are still a number of opportunities to be involved with this project for prospective team managers and coaching staff and all enquiries  should be addressed to Stuart Harris on 07714459735.
