The Pitmen take a break from Evo-Stik League action this evening as our attentions turns towards the Integro League Cup when we make the journey up to Matlock Town.
We progressed to this round of the competition with a 2-0 victory over Rushall Olympic and a narrow 1-0 defeat of Newcastle Town in the last round. This will be the first time that we have had to travel away from Keys Park in the league cup this season though.
The Gladiators meanwhile have defeated Carlton Town and Grantham Town in order to reach this stage of the competition.
This will be our second trip to Matlock during this campaign with us having suffered a 3-2 league defeat all the way back in August – with our hosts currently sitting in 18th place in the league table.
The tie must be decided on the night and if the scores are level after 90 minutes then instead of extra-time, a penalty shoot-out will decide who advances into the next round. The 2017-18 winners and runners-up will once again collect £2,000 and £1,000 in prize money respectively. Losing quarter-finalists will collect £250, while the losing semi-finalists will bank £500 each as sponsors Integro continue their long-running support for the Evo-Stik League’s showpiece cup competition.
The game kicks off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and we thank those who are making the journey to Matlock for the fixture.
