Match Preview: Basford United (H)

Tuesday 27/03/2018

The Pitmen take a break from Evo-Stik League action this evening when our attentions turns towards the Integro League Cup as we host Basford United at Keys Park.

After progressing into the quarter-finals of this competition, following victories over Rushall Olympic, Newcastle Town and Matlock Town, we shall be looking to keep our good run in this cup going when Evo-Stik Division One South Basford visit us.

Basford have enjoyed an excellent season so far and currently sit in first place in the league below – on the cusp of promotion to this level with them requiring just one point to make that certain. It would come as no surprise that they have been strong on their travels this season winning 11 games in the league – with it set to be a test for us this evening despite the division difference.

The tie must be decided on the night and if the scores are level after 90 minutes then instead of extra-time, a penalty shoot-out will decide who advances into the next round. The 2017-18 winners and runners-up will once again collect £2,000 and £1,000 in prize money respectively. Losing quarter-finalists will collect £250, while the losing semi-finalists will bank £500 each as sponsors Integro continue their long-running support for the Evo-Stik League’s showpiece cup competition.

Manager Rob Smith is set to be down to the bare bones of his squad due to injuries, with James Fitzgibbon having had back problems in recent weeks while Sam Oji pulled up late on Saturday during the draw with Buxton.

The game kicks off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and Strikers Bar will be open both before and after the game for all supporters.

Admission Prices:
£7 Adult
£5 Concession
£2 Under 16’s
