Match Preview: Warrington Town (A)

Tuesday 20/03/2018

After getting back to winning ways on Saturday, the Pitmen look to build on those three points when we head to promotion hopefuls Warrington Town this evening.

The Yellows have enjoyed an excellent season so far and after their latest victory on Saturday, and Altrincham’s loss, they now sit just three points off the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League table.

It was of course only just over two weeks ago that we played host to Warrington – with them running out 2-0 victors that day.

Our only previous trip to Warrington saw us lose out to a solitary goal 12 months ago, with Danny Glover having a late penalty saved.

Manager Rob Smith was looking for his side to pick up where they left off on Saturday when they hit the road this evening:

“It was important for us to get back to winning ways last weekend and that gives us something to build upon as we go to Warrington. I was really pleased with how the team responded in the second half and we shall be looking to take that with us.

“Of course, it was only a couple of weeks ago that we last faced them and as we found out on that day they are an excellent team and it will be another hard game for us – however we know if we go with the right application then we are a match for any team on our day.”

Smith will once again be without Joe Fitzpatrick – with the midfielder sitting out another game through suspension, following his sending off against Warrington last month.
