Defender Makes Keys Park Return

Friday 20/07/2018

Hednesford Town Football Club are pleased to announce that defender Callam Mendez-Jones has returned to Keys Park after he agreed a new deal with the club last night.

The 22-year-old impressed at Keys Park last season after joining the Pitmen in November 2017 – earning rave reviews while playing at both right-back and centre-half.

A product of the West Bromwich Albion youth academy, although Mendez-Jones didn’t make a first team appearance at the Hawthorns, he did play in the Football League during a loan spell with League Two side Accrington Stanley in 2016 – also representing England at under-18 level.

Following the signing manager Rob Smith, said:

“I’m really pleased that Callam has re-signed. He is a little behind in terms of fitness but with so many games coming up he will soon get up to speed.

“He was impressive for us last season and hopefully he is at an age now where he will only continue to improve.”

Mendez-Jones will be part of the squad that takes on Rugby Town at Keys Park on Saturday, 21 July, with a 3pm kick-off.
