Match Preview: Rugby Town (H)

This weekend sees the Pitmen return to home action as we prepare to host Rugby Town at Keys Park in our latest pre-season fixture.

After managing to continue our unbeaten start, when we came from two goals down against AFC Wulfrunians on Tuesday evening, we go into Saturday’s game aiming to get some more valuable match time for the whole squad.

It has been some eight years since we last crossed paths with Rugby and although they now find themselves in the United Counties League this fixture will no doubt be another test for us.

The Pitmen will actually be led in the coming games by experienced non-league manager Micky Moore with both manager Rob Smith and assistant manager Larry Chambers away on separate holidays.

Smith said:

“We’re grateful for Micky coming in to give us a hand. I’d like to assure all supporters though that I will still be working hard in order to get players in and I will be in contact with Micky every day.”

We have also today been able to add one final pre-season fixture to our line-up. On Saturday 28th July we shall be making the journey across the West Midlands as we take on Alvechurch, with a 3pm kick-off.

Saturday’s game also kicks-off at 3pm and hopefully you will be able to join us as we continue our preparation towards the start of the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League season.
