Towering Centre-Half Agrees Keys Park Deal

Friday 13/07/2018

Hednesford Town Football Club are delighted to announce that defender Stefan Galinski has agreed a one-year contract with the Pitmen – also taking up the position of club captain at the same time.

Galinksi, 24, was the driving force behind Grantham Town making the play-off final last season as he skippered the Gingerbreads to a fourth-place finish as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

The towering centre-half, who played in Monday’s victory against Heath Hayes, started his career with Derby County before joining Boston United, where he played a full season in the National League North – and then Stalybridge Celtic.

After linking up with Alfreton Town in the National League the defender joined Grantham on loan in February 2016 before making the move permanent and becoming their club captain.

Following the news of the signing manager Rob Smith, said:

“This is a signing that we have been working on for some time and someone we identified early on with him being Grantham’s captain in their successful season last time around.

“He is a true leader in every sense – which is exactly what I think we have been missing and why we have made him club captain.

“I’d also like to thank Grantham for their professionalism in assisting with this signing.”

Galinski will line up with the Pitmen tomorrow afternoon when we host Mansfield Town at Keys Park in our first home pre-season game.
