Match Preview: Basford United (A)

The Pitmen make a quick return to action on Monday evening as we prepare for our second game of the new season with a trip to Basford United.
After coming up against a new side in Scarborough Athletic last Saturday, Monday evening’s game sees us travelling to a ground that we haven’t visited before – with our hosts having risen up the pyramid in recent years.
Basford powered to promotion last season, and are again fancied to do well this time around. We have of course met once already this calendar year when we ran out 5-0 winners in the Integro League Cup tie at Keys Park back in March.
After also suffering an opening day defeat, 1-0 at Hyde, our hosts this evening will no doubt be looking to get off to a good start on their own patch.
Pitmen manager Rob Smith will meanwhile be looking for a response from his team. He will again be without Jermain Hollis (suspension) and Tom Hill (holiday) while Jed Davies is also still nursing an injury.
The game kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm and we’d like to thank those Hednesford supporters who are making the journey across to Nottinghamshire this evening.
