Match Preview: Kidsgrove Athletic (A)

Wednesday 19/09/2018

Hednesford Town return to action this evening as we prepare to make the trip to North Staffordshire to take on Kidsgrove Athletic as our attentions turn towards the Integro Sports League Cup.

After returning to winning ways last Saturday we go into the game looking to make further progression in a cup competition this season.

Our last visit to Kidsgrove, who play in the level below ourselves, came over two years ago now when the Pitmen lost on penalties in the semi-final of the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

Manager Rob Smith has somewhat of an injury crisis, with his squad having been depleted in the last week – leaving the manager forced to rotate his team for this evening’s game.

He said:

“We took the competition very seriously last year, reaching the semi-finals, and although we will of course try and win the game tonight, as we have seen with other teams in the competition, team selection will be made with more than one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup game, which is obviously of far more importance to the Club as a whole.

“We have a number of players currently carrying knocks and I will not risk any of them. Jed Davies is definitely out (shin splints) while Josh Craddock (back) is also missing.”

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and we’d like to thank those Hednesford supporters who are making the journey.
