Match Preview: Workington AFC (A)

Friday 30/11/2018

Hednesford Town return to action tomorrow afternoon, after a turbulent week at Keys Park, with a 400 mile round trip to Workington AFC.

Our hosts on Saturday have struggled to get going this season and currently find themselves second from bottom in the league table with 10 points from their 15 matches – both of their victories this season in the league have come at home though.

We go into the game looking to complete a league double over Workington after we triumphed 2-0 at Keys Park back in September thanks to two second half goals.

Caretaker Manager Francino Francis has been left with somewhat of a depleted squad to choose from for his first game in-charge though. Callam Mendez-Jones misses out due to a prior engagement, while Jed Davies, Joe Fitzpatrick and Reece King are all unavailable due to suspension. Matt Dodd and Lewis Archer will also both miss the trip due to niggling injuries.

In order to boost our ranks Francis has been able to bring in striker Romario Martin, who linked up with the Pitmen in the summer, and 20-year-old midfielder Jack Hallahan from Coalville Town. Hallahan has previously impressed in games for Burton Albion in recent Birmingham Senior Cup fixtures against ourselves as well as playing for the Republic of Ireland at Under 18 level.

We can also confirm that a seven day approach has been submitted by Halesowen Town for the services of defender Mendez-Jones.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank those fans who are making the long trip north in order to support the Pitmen.
