Match Preview: Lichfield City (A)

Monday 10/12/2018

Hednesford Town turn their attentions away from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League action this evening when we travel to Lichfield City in the Second Round of the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

After progressing to the final last season we go into tonight’s game looking to emulate that run in our first game of the competition this time around.

Lichfield will be a stern test for the Pitmen though with them currently sitting in third place in the Midland Football League Division One table – having won 13 of their 18 league games so far, including eight of these at home. They also confidently dispatched Heath Hayes in the previous round to set up this tie.

Caretaker Manager Francino Francis said:

“We need to start cutting out the silly mistakes that are really costing us. On Saturday I felt that if we’d have got that second goal then it probably would’ve put the game to bed.

“Although we have had some disruption of late I believe in these lads, I believe in the squad we are trying to create and the way we are trying to go about things. Hopefully we will see that this evening.”

Francis is set to be without Matt Dodd (prior engagement) and Josh Craddock (injury) but Lewis Archer could be involved after training on Thursday last week and taking part in some of the warm-up on Saturday. Reece King is also now available again after sitting out the last three games due to suspension.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and we look forward to seeing you in attendance as we aim to make cup progression.
