Match Preview: Hyde United (H)

Monday 25/02/2019

Hednesford Town return home tomorrow evening when Hyde United visit for a rearranged fixture which should originally have taken place at the start of the month, only to fall foul of the weather.

The Pitmen go into the game looking to record back-to-back league victories for only the second time this season and for the first time since September.

This was something that we missed out on doing in our last meeting with Hyde when, despite playing for well over an hour with ten men, we were defeated by two goals late on. Since then Hyde have continued to go from strength-to-strength and currently sit in eighth place in the league table.

Ahead of the game Hednesford manager Nick Eaden was looking for his side to build on our victory at Buxton on Saturday.

He said:

“I said to the lads after Saturday’s game that it is set up nicely going into the match on Tuesday as we look to make it a big week for us. If we can take something out of the game, hopefully a win, then again we can look to build on that for the weekend.

“I’m also looking forward to getting back to playing at home as it feels like we have had quite a few away games lately. Hopefully we can turn in a performance like we did on Saturday and also when we beat Basford last month.”

The Pitmen go into the game with injury concerns over Ben O’Hanlon and Jud Ellis who both limped off during the fixture at Buxton. Alex Melbourne and Ethan Jones will be available for selection though after missing the last fixture due to prior engagements.

The game kicks-off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and we look forward to your support at Keys Park.
