Match Preview: Grantham Town (H)

Friday 01/03/2019

Hednesford Town return home tomorrow afternoon for the third game inside a week when Grantham Town visit Keys Park.

After recording back-to-back victories in the last two matches the Pitmen go into this fixture full of confidence as they look to record three league victories on the spin for the first time since January 2018.

Our visitors on Saturday come into the game with two victories in their last three league matches, sitting just one place behind us in the table with 38 points from their 32 matches played this season. One of those fixtures saw us recording a late victory over our visitors on Saturday when a Michael Howard goal deep in stoppage time earned us all three points back in October.

Ahead of the game Hednesford manager Nick Eaden was looking for his side to build on the last two matches against Buxton and Hyde United – although was wary of the threat that our visitors could offer.

He said:

“Grantham have recently changed their managerial team – with them making some new additions to the playing squad that have seen them pick up some good results in recent weeks. Something that we shall need to be wary of tomorrow.

“There is real confidence in the team now. The lads have put two really good performances in over the last week and we will be looking for more of the same on Saturday.”

The Pitmen go into the game having to assess the fitness of both Ben O’Hanlon and Jud Ellis who both missed the midweek fixture against Hyde due to injuries picked up against Buxton while Javan Vidal will also undergo a fitness test after limping off in the first half on Tuesday evening.

The game kicks-off at the usual Saturday time of 3pm and we look forward to your support at Keys Park.
