The Pitmen take a break from the league this weekend and turn our attention to the Emirates FA Cup, as we prepare to take on Barwell FC at the PRG Stadium, Keys Park. The Canaries defeated AFC Mansfield 4-1 at the Kirby Road Sports Ground to set up this Second Round Qualifying tie.
Ahead of the game, Gary Hayward stated; “The FA Cup is a great competition and rest assured we will be doing our best to make progress. We are well prepared and the lads understand how important today is. We go into the game in good shape, I was happy with Tuesday’s win against Banbury, which took us top of the league; I hope the fans are buzzing as well. It was a great team performance from front to back.”
Gaz hit back at recent criticism of the squad’s post-match singing; “I’m all for it! It shows spirit and togetherness and why shouldn’t we celebrate winning?”
Jack Hallahan and Ben O’Hanlon are ruled out through injury this weekend; Jack is back in training while Ben has had his cast removed. Kris Scott came off at half time following an ankle injury against Banbury on Tuesday night and is considered doubtful.
Kick-off is at the usual Saturday time of 3pm.
