Hednesford Town v Redditch United (H)

Tuesday 22/10/2019

Hednesford Town make a quick return to The PRG Stadium at Keys Park tonight, looking to get back on track in the BetVictor Central League against Redditch United. The Pitmen bowed out of the FA Cup at the Fourth Qualifying Round stage against Boston United on Saturday and with last week’s defeat at Bromsgrove Sporting have slipped to fourth place in the table, a point behind leaders Coalville Town. The Reds are currently in 20th place in the league after Saturday’s 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Barwell.

On Saturday’s FA Cup exit, Gary Hayward said; “I am disappointed with how we went out. Both sides had done their research and we effectively cancelled each other out. They knew we would be putting balls into the box, so they changed their keeper for the game to deal with it. To go out down to an individual error is hard to take, you have to ask if the wall was set up properly and the keeper should have done better. It was a similar story against Bromsgrove Sporting last Tuesday, where we conceded a couple of goals that we shouldn’t have done. We need to move on from last week starting tonight against Redditch United.”

Izak Reid is likely to feature in the squad after starting on Saturday, Gary Hayward explained; “Izak has done really well in training and deserves his chance, he has been unlucky in that he was flying during pre-season but got a virus which kept him out. During the time he was out the team was playing well and winning, so it has taken a while for him to get back in.”

New loan signing, goalkeeper Andy Wycherley, signed yesterday from AFC Telford will be available. Sam Griffiths is an injury doubt after limping off just before the half time break on Saturday, while Ben O’Hanlon remains unavailable.

Kick off is at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm.
