Needham Market v Hednesford Town (A)

Friday 31/01/2020

Hednesford Town head to Suffolk to take on Needham Market in the BetVictor Premier League Central at the weekend. The Marketmen have won their last two league games, both away from home at Redditch United and AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night. They currently sit in 16th place, seven points behind the Pitmen having played one more game. Needham were the 1-0 winners at Keys Park earlier in the season.

The Pitmen squad has been bolstered by the arrival of Tom Solanke on-loan from West Bromwich Albion. Tom is a strong defensive midfielder who has been a regular for Albion Under-23s since the end of 2018. The Baggies signed Tom from a local Birmingham side when he was 11, he is a centre-midfielder who is equally adept as a centre-back, reads the game well and is composed on the ball. Joint caretaker manager Danny Glover said on Tom’s arrival; “He is an obvious replacement for Hurst, he caught our eye in a couple of West Brom games we have seen recently, other teams from the step above were looking at him, so we had to move quickly.”

There are no new injury concerns for Saturday, ahead of the game Danny added; “It’s a big game for us tomorrow, it’s a long trip and we have be focussed on bringing home the points. Needham are tough opponents who defended very well when we played them at home. Creativity will be the key, we need to bounce back after last week.”
