SA Prepare To Re-Unite FA Trophy Team A Decade On

Friday 17/01/2014

On Friday 23rd May 2014, exactly a decade on from a glorious sunny late Spring day at Villa Park, the Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association would like to invite Pitmen supporters, young and old, to remember one of the most remarkable days in the Club’s history.

Sunday 23rd May 2004 was the day, after The Pitmen had caused a huge shock by disposing of Conference high-flyers Aldershot Town in the semi-finals, that current Hednesford Assistant Manager, Chris Brindley, scored an iconic half volley from distance to settle a stunning 3-2 victory for his team against bookies’ favourites Canvey Island.

The 4,500 or so supporters who made the short trip to Aston will never forget the magical atmosphere around the ground that day with players such as Anthony Maguire, Steve Anthrobus, Steve and Carl Palmer, Darren Simkin, Les Hines, Jordan King, Mark Danks, and Ryan Young, not to mention manager Barry Powell, writing their name in the history of the club.

With several of that squad already confirmed to attend, tickets will soon be available to purchase for what will be an event not to be missed. HTFCSA members’ tickets will cost £5 whilst non-members will be priced at £7.

The night will take place in the Chase Suite and all ticket holders will get food on the evening and have the opportunity to reminisce with those involved about that dramatic run to the FA Trophy Final, with the HTFCSA hoping the event will be as successful as the 2012 15-year Middlesbrough FA Cup reunion.
