The highly rated, former Irish U17 international, full back joined the Pitmen from Northwich Victoria in June 2012.
Despite being born in Newquay, Cornwall, John represented the Republic of Ireland at U17 level following his break into the Stockport County first-team squad – where he made a number of sub appearances before being released in the summer of 2010./p>
Following a successful trial period John joined Northwich Victoria but, after an impressive start to his spell at the Victoria Stadium, disaster struck in October of 2010 when he suffered a serious leg break that kept him out of action until April 2011. His bad luck would return just 2 games into his comeback as he once again suffered the agony of a broken leg.
After fighting back to fitness for the start of the 2011-12 season, he became a crucial member of the Northwich Victoria squad that finished 2nd in the division. However, the clubs well documented off the field problems saw the club removed from the playoffs and demoted to the Evo-Stik Division One.
