We are pleased to confirm that defender Paul McCone has agreed to stay with the club for another year.

The popular centre-half, who first joined the club in November 2013, was sorely missed during the run-in to the end of the 2014/15 campaign but following a meeting with manager Rob Smith, he has agreed to stay with the club.

Smith admitted he was delighted to be able to secure McCone, 23, for another year.

“I’m absolutely delighted to secure Paul for another season” the manager said. “He was my main priority this summer.

“His injury was the main reason our results fell away at the end of the season, and despite offers from other clubs Paul has shown his loyalty to myself, Larry and the Club.

“We really look forward to him fully recovering from his injury and playing again as soon as possible.”
