Defender Arrives at Keys Park

Tuesday 21/06/2016

Hednesford Town are pleased to announce defender Michael Williams as the latest new player to arrive at Keys Park.

The experienced defender, who has played for Leamington, Rugby Town and Stratford Town in the past, joins the club after spending last season with Chasetown.

Williams, 28, also has international experience with Montserrat and he is looking forward to providing some experience with his new team.

He said:

“I’m looking forward to the new season and playing for Hednesford now. It is at a higher level for me after spending the last season with Chasetown.

“I have played for different sides in the non-league game though for a number of years and definitely know what it takes to be up towards the top of a league and challenging for promotion.

“I’ve also the experience of playing in big games, having played qualifying matches for Montserrat. I played four times for them and it was a great experience and something that hopefully I can bring with me.”

Williams was someone that manager Liam McDonald had been looking to bring to the club since being appointed manager.

He said:

“Michael is a very versatile defender who is comfortable playing at both fullback and wide midfield and he is a lad who is very quick and strong.

“I have been keeping an eye on him for the last couple of years as he did very well at Rugby and carried that on with Chasetown last season. I actually watched him and Cohen battle it out in a game last year and they both caught my eye then.

“Michael is very good defensively, being strong and he loves to get past players on a regular basis. I feel that he will compliment what we have got already.”
