End of Season Awards

Hednesford Town Football Club understand that there have been frustrations surrounding the usual end of season awards – and identify that these awards should have taken place following the last home league game of the season if no other specific evening was nominated, as was the case. This is something that will be rectified for the 2018/19 season and we apologise for this oversight.
We would also like to apologise to longstanding supporter Ian ‘Joe’ Bailey, and his two sons Ryan and Tom, with the family having supplied and presented the Player of the Season award for the past 40 years –  obviously they were unable to do so this year.

Votes were undertaken though during the final weeks of the season for the various awards and here are the results.

Following an excellent season ‘between the sticks’ James Wren has been named as the Supporters’ Player of the Season, closely followed by runners-up Danny Glover and Tom Thorley, with the goalkeeper also taking home the Players’ Player of the Season.

Wren has also been named as the Travel Club Player of the Season and HTFCSA Player of the Season. The HTFCSA Supporter of the Season will be announced at their next meeting on Friday 11 May.

Meanwhile the Manager’s Player of the Season went to striker Danny Glover after notching 29 goals so far this campaign – with the frontman also taking home the Sportsman of the Season award.

Once again the club would to apologise for this end of season anti-climax and we thank you for your continued support over the course of the last campaign.

A reminder that the Pitmen have one game of the season remaining when we head to St Andrews, the home of Birmingham City, to take on Stourbridge in the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
